season recap The season was a great success with 16 teams and over 160 kids playing CYO basketball for St. Cecilia. All the coaches did a great job teaching the kids the basics of the game. The middle school teams did tremendous in the annual CYO end of the season championships. St. Cecilia had 3 different teams advance to the final four in their respective tournament. Two teams advanced to the finals and won. This is an incredible accomplishment for our basketball program. I believe this shows the dedication and commitment that the coaches and players have toward themselves and each other that begin in the third grade. Great Job!!! Results this past season include: The 7th grade girls coached by Rosemary St. Clair and Bill Scott won the 7th grade CYO championship at Valley Catholic High School by defeating St. Thomas More in the finals. It was a great team effort. Good job girls!! The 7th grade boys coached by Mike Chertude lost in the 7th grade CYO championship game at Valley Catholic High School against St. Thomas More. This was the first loss in two years for the 7th grade boys in CYO play. Great job boys and get them next year!! The 8th grade class also went to Eugene over President's Day weekend for the annual St. Paul tournament and fun was had by all. The 8th grade boys played in the finals at Eugene and lost to a very good St. Mary's Stayton team. This was truly a team effort as this was the first St. Cecilia boys team in the finals in over 8 years. The girls won the 3rd place game. This is a great way to end their basketball career's at St. Cecilia. See you next year.... Mike
